When WaRP Graphics allowed fans of
their books to create and write their own stories based upon the
ElfQuest works, it was common for fan stories to borrow elements
from the original series for use in their tales. Often, similar themes
and even almost identical titles of fan creations would later show up in
ElfQuest publications.

Timber Valley employed a
treeshaper-maintained thorn barrier around the Holt proper as added
security in our stories between 1984-1990. In 1992, the Wolfriders used a Redlance-maintained
thorn barrier for protection in ElfQuest: Hidden Years.

Timber Valley: The New Blood
appeared in Timbers #21 in May 1990. The WaRP Graphics title
ElfQuest: New Blood later appeared in 1992.

Timber Valley member Steve Carter
approached WaRP early in 1992 about doing a book called The Living
Years that would focus on the Wolfriders during the long years
after Rayek took the Palace 10,000 years into the future. He received
no response on his suggestion. Several months later in the same year, WaRP Graphics
announced a new book called ElfQuest: The Hidden Years, which
profiled stories of Wolfrider life during the long years after Rayek
took the Palace into the future.

In 1982, the ElfQuest fanzine
Yearnings (#1) published a story by Debra Vorgias (now Debbie
Delorme) and Elizabeth Cerritelli (now Betty Spurlock) about sea-elves
living with dolphins they called Wave-dancers. In 1993, WaRP Graphics released a series
about sea-elves under the title of ElfQuest:
Wavedancers.
