In this timeline, DF stands for "Death Flood" as the year that this disaster occurred is used as a reference point concerning our current tribe. A negative number indicates a certain x took place before the Death Flood, while a positive number indicates an event that took place afterward. For the sake of the Readers, we have dropped specific terms for the seasons (White Fall, Green Time, etc.) and are simply using the typical terms (Winter, Spring, etc.). Note: There is no DF 0. DF 1 comes directly after DF-1. |

DF-4500 Spring An extensive troll warren located beneath a great grassy plain is divided by a vicious feud into two factions after the death of King Broadstone. Both sides set traps for one another, often causing whole chambers to collapse. One group led by a crafty troll wench named Cattail develops a plan to destroy their enemies by flooding the warrens and begins work on tunnels to divert water from the overhead river. |
DF-4500 Summer When the tunnels are completed, Cattail retreats with her warriors behind barriers designed to withstand the pressures of the loosed waters. The massive underground flooding proves to be too strong, however, and the raging torrent batters down supporting walls and columns, causing the entire, multiple-layer cave system to collapse upon itself. A great section of the grass plains beneath the river caves in straight down, creating a massive sunken valley.
The survivors of both sides unite in blaming Cattail for the death and destruction of their domain and stake her out on top of the new cliffs in the sun, leaving her to die. Two young adventurous males creep out at night to free her, and the trio flees into the distance.
The remainder of trolls come together under the rule of Rockcrusher, the male who had led the side that had opposed Cattail. King Rockcrusher begins to rebuild the kingdom, while a lake begins to form in the newly created valley.
Over several hundred years, the lake and a continuation of the river feed the valley floor, helping trees and plants thrive in the new, enclosed environment. Animals from the plains find ways down to the lush forest below and begin life-circles there. |
DF-4180 Fall A band of plains-roaming humans following the river discover a valley filled with trees that is sunken below the level of the prairie. They find an almost-impassible pathway down to the valley floor and realize how lush the place is with plentiful game. The Ke L'Rhatan settle on the east side of the lake, near the pathway they used to enter the valley. |
DF-4133 Summer A bad summer storm washes away the humans' rugged pathway into the valley, and they are trapped without a way to get out. However, the humans are self-sufficient with the valley's resources and are content with their fate to remain where they have settled. |
DF-4070 Fall "TIMBER VALLEY BEGINNINGS" - A tribe of elves are chased from the Great Wood by humans and flee out onto the grassy plains, where the humans lose the trail and turn back to the forest. The elves continue to move westward. After days of travel, they come to a river and follow it downstream. Days later, they find a tree-filled valley on the plains and decide to settle there. The tribe's ruling council is dissolved and the chief hunter, Silverstone, is made the Chief of the Timber Folk. They enter the valley and start work on their new holt. |
DF-4069 Spring Seeing smoke on the other side of the valley, a group goes to investigate and finds a human settlement. They are caught by the "tall ones", but escape and flee back to the holt. The territorial humans follow, thinking to drive away the intruders. The first to die is Hawkleaf, the tribe's healer. A fierce battle ensues with deaths on both sides, but then ends in a draw.
An uneasy sort of truce is arranged, wherein the two tribes divide the valley into separate areas. The human chief named Leve, warns that any elf caught on their side will be killed without a needed reason. Silverstone is saddened by the ultimatum, but for the safety of his tribe, sees no choice but to reply in kind and threaten to kill any human caught in the elves' territory. Silverstone vows that no one will ever drive them from their homes again. |
DF-4069 Summer Troll caverns are discovered near Two Falls after a hunting party near the Sheercliff wall comes across a troll party out hunting for meat. After some paranoia on the part of the King Rockcrusher, a bartering system is arranged between the two races, with the elves providing meats, vegetables and animal furs in exchange for weapons and other items made of enduring brightmetal. |
DF-4015 Spring Firelight's healing talent manifests, but is unpredictable at first. When she goes into a trance to heal Chief Silverstone's broken leg from an accident, the chief's white hair suddenly turns black. His leg is repaired, but the hair color change is irreversible. A lot of good-natured ribbing takes place for both Silverstone and Firelight. |

A respected elder named Tioga becomes their chief and requests a council with Silverstone for a better truce agreement between their two races. DF-3968 Fall A "harmless prank" on chief Tioga by a young mischievous elf inadvertently results in the chief's death. The elf responsible is distraught by his actions and allows himself to be captured and killed without a struggle. |
DF-3963 Spring Highwind and Sandstaff sneak over into the humans' territory and are trapped by a large thunderstorm. Strong senders, they inform their kin where they are, and take refuge in a large dark cavern. When they do not return, Nightflame goes in after them, but is lost as well. Wellstone and Fishlance are also swallowed up by the cavern when they try to retrieve Nightflame. After this, it is learned that the humans avoid that place, calling it the Black Cavern. |
